Designing Seekr presented various challenges. We had to create algorithms that accurately evaluated content in context and provide reliable information to users while ensuring a seamless experience. We also had to navigate data privacy concerns to maintain transparency in how user data was used and protected. Overall, developing Seekr was a challenging yet fulfilling experience, as we created a platform empowering users to make informed decisions and access reliable information with ease.

The Challenge: Own Your Own Content

The initial design of Seekr included a slider with multiple lines that represented the relative amount of content. As the slider moved towards the center, the amount of content decreased. However, there was a significant amount of content tagged as "just right of center," which posed a challenge in conveying this information to the user.

Although this feature presented both a UX and business challenge, user testing showed that the users preferred a simplified version that offered a filtering system for political biases. Thus, after conducting an adequate amount of research, I opted to simplify the granularity with the L (Left), L/C (Left, Center), C (Center), C/R (Center, Right) and R (Right) options, aligning with user preferences and promoting user adoption.

*Competitive Research for New Filter Options*

This decision was part of our efforts to differentiate Seekr from competitors by offering unique modules, such as the historical searches module. This module enables users to track how a topic's political leanings have shifted over time, aiding in the fight against misinformation and political bias.

The focus on user adoption and preference led to a successful implementation of the product's features and modules, resulting in user experience that was more refined, transparent, and functional for the end user.

Takeaways

The release of Seekr to the public has been a resounding success, attracting millions of dollars in funding and investments. This impressive show of support demonstrates the demand for Seekr's innovative approach to search technology and information discovery. The successful completion of Phase 1 and the secured funding have positioned Seekr for continued growth and success, as the company moves forward into Phase 2 of development.
