Tinubu Surety
Modernizing a legacy platform
Surety bonding is a complex ecosystem requiring seamless collaboration between brokers, agents, and underwriters. Tinubu, a leader in this space, needed a complete UX/UI overhaul to modernize its platform, improve usability, and increase adoption.
My Role
As the Principal Designer, I spearheaded the redesign, introduced design thinking methodologies, and worked closely with cross-functional teams to align on business goals and user needs.
Business Problem
Tinubu Surety’s legacy platform was outdated, causing inefficiencies for insurers and brokers. The system lacked modern usability, leading to long onboarding times, errors, and frustration among users. The challenge was to redesign the platform to improve workflows, enhance usability, and streamline the overall experience for stakeholders.

Research Methods
User Interviews – Spoke with underwriters, brokers, and internal teams to identify key friction points.
Usability Testing – Analyzed how users interacted with the legacy system to pinpoint inefficiencies.
Competitive Analysis – Compared industry-standard solutions to benchmark best practices.
Data Analysis – Reviewed platform usage data to identify the most frequently used features.
Failed Iterations & Key Learnings
Navigation Overhaul – Initially, we introduced a sidebar-based navigation, but users found it cluttered. A simplified, task-oriented approach improved usability.
Form Redesign – Early iterations used a multi-step form, which slowed down frequent users. We iterated to allow quick data entry with smart defaults.
Dashboard Insights – A complex dashboard was initially proposed, but after testing, we simplified it to display only the most relevant underwriting data upfront.
Metrics & Outcomes
📉 40% reduction in the time required to complete a bond submission.
💡 Increased adoption among brokers, with a 30% rise in active users within three months.
⏳ 50% faster onboarding due to a more intuitive interface and improved documentation.
🔍 Reduced errors in submissions by 25%, improving operational efficiency.
